About Us

The original village tennis court was part of the social club and facilities given to the men and women of Chipperfield by Samual and Elizabeth Blackwell in memory of their two sons, both of whom perished in the First World War.

In 1965 Chipperfield tennis club was formed and a new tarmacadam court built next to the village social club, now named Blackwells. A second court was constructed in 1994. Presently the club has one artificial grass court and one tarmacadam court which is floodlit for night play.

Chipperfield Tennis Club is run by a dedicated team of volunteers as a non profit organisation purely to promote social tennis in enjoyable surroundings. Whilst the club does not have it’s own clubhouse it’s proximity to Blackwells ensures that the club can offer most of the facilities of neighbouring tennis clubs and a venue for the club’s social events. The membership rates which comprise various categories are probably the most competitive in the country with an emphasis on encouraging family membership.

The club holds various doubles competitions and social tennis evenings throughout the year. Individual coaching is available and group coaching sessions for children over a ten week period in early summer.

Chipperfield Tennis Club is affiliated to the LTA and is a British Tennis Venue. One of the many benefits of LTA status is that each year the club receives an allocation of Wimbledon tickets which are then distributed by ballot to club members who are BTM members.
