Welcome to Chipperfield Tennis Club, located in the heart of historic Chipperfield, Hertfordshire!

The original village tennis court was part of the social club and facilities given to the Men and Women of Chipperfield by Samuel and Elizabeth Blackwell in memory of their two sons, both of which perished during the First World War. This court was located on the left hand side of the social club (now named Blackwells) where the car park now stands, and was provided for the sole use of women members.

In the early 1960's, the proposal to construct a bowling green on the right hand side of the social club was abandoned and the land was sold to the council. In 1965, the council built a tennis court on the site which is now our court no.1. Our second court was constructed in 1994 and was subsequently floodlit in 1999.

Chipperfield Tennis Club is run by a committee of dedicated volunteers and overseen by three appointed trustees. Whilst our reason for existence is tennis, our culture is of fun, friendship and socialising. We hold three special tournaments each year and use up to six additional private courts to facilitate our competitions.

Over 12 Saturday mornings each summer, we organise Tennis Coaching for Children, which has proved extraordinarily successful. We recognise capacity for development that the young can have for tennis and we are enthusiastic about teaching the sport together with the range of skills that stem from organised tennis.

Our Family Membership fee, which is inclusive of 2 adults and children up to and including 18 years of age, costs £45.00 a year, so you will gather than our driving force is not profit. We do, however, strive to keep our facilities well maintained and presented, as a sign of our pride in our club and as an asset for our village.

Full details of how to join our the Chipperfield Tennis Club, our range of charges and details of how to take part in our activities can be found on this website, so if you think you would like to play tennis at any level, and that you share our values and outlook, we would love to hear from you.
